Mbappé and Messi secure the victory in Ajaccio!
In a tight match that was approached with collective focus and a duo of geniuses, Paris Saint-Germain picked up three points at Ajaccio to solidify their spot at the top of Ligue 1 (0-3). A look back on the match!
After a convincing win in a delightful Classique against Marseille, Les Parisiens travelled to Corsica as they look to consolidate their lead at the top of Ligue 1. An encounter that Christophe saw Galtier forced to start with a previously unseen starting eleven due to numerous absences. Carlos Soler started in support of the attacking duo of Messi and Mbappé.
Against the brave newly promoted side who were galvanised by the home support, Les Parisiens had been warned: they would need to quickly counteract the pressure from the very compact Corsicans in order to earn some breathing space. Les Rouge et Bleu were able to do just that in an ideal scenario. Christophe Galtier's side brought all of the necessary ingredients to avoid falling into the home side's trap.

Despite the small lead, the first half was full of positives for Les Parisiens, with Fabian Ruiz particularly impressing, recovering no less than nine balls, completing four tackles and getting two shots off on goal... Including one which deserved more (45+1). Collectively, all that was left to do was to convert our other opportunities within the Stade François Coty. And in an even more compact second half, that task promised to be difficult against Pantaloni's side…
But who else, but the Mbappé - Messi duo to find the light! The two artists switched roles when Mbappé turned provider with a deft back-heel to find Messi who then chipped the ball over the onrushing goalkeeper (0-2, 78'). The two accomplices weren't done yet and took it upon themselves to really put the game to bed, when another ball from Leo found Kylian, who placed the ball into the back of the net for the visitors' third of the evening (0-3, 81').
After an intelligent performance, Paris Saint-Germain leave Corsica without faltering and continue their remarkable unbeaten run. In doing so, they also extended their lead over the chasing pack in the league. On Tuesday, the prestigious Champions League returns to the Parc des Princes, with a ticket for the next round up for grabs against Maccabi Haïfa.
